In Conversation: Rethinking Youth Justice

Probus Clubs of Perth

We are pleased to announce that our next Advocacy event will be held on Thursday, 7 May 2026, from 5.00pm to 7.00pm, in collaboration with The Law Society of Western Australia. The topic for this session is:

In Conversation: Rethinking Youth Justice in WA.

The event reflects the legacy of Edith Cowan – a founding member of the Karrakatta Club and the Child Protection Society, the first women elected to an Australian parliament and a long-serving magistrate of the Children’s Court – who championed protection and rehabilitation over punishment for children in the justice system.

This is an important and timely discussion, and we are honoured to welcome the following panel speakers:

Moderator:

Jacqueline McGowan-Jones, Commissioner for Children and Young People

Panel:

  1. His Honour Judge Hylton Quail, President of the Children’s Court
  2. Eamon Ryan, Inspector of Custodial Services
  3. Dr Haylen Passmore, University of Western Australia

Format: Panel discussion and Q&A, followed by canapés and a complimentary drink. Additional beverages will be available for purchase.

Please see the attached flyer for further details and click here for bookings.

Bookings are essential and need to be made by 4:30PM Thursday 30 April.

We encourage you to extend this invitation to others who may wish to attend this significant Advocacy event.

Kind regards
